Daily reading: Monday 2 November 2026
Today’s theme: the harness around the agents. Yesterday was about agents changing version control. Today is about the setup you build around them: sandboxes, rules, worktrees and multi-agent coordination. That’s also exactly what Orca does on your Mac.
Read first (about 1 hour, or pick one)
Section titled “Read first (about 1 hour, or pick one)”- Building the harness around AI coding tools (Ida Silfverskiöld, Data Science Collective, 45 min) Covers permissions, sandboxing, AGENTS.md and more. Relates to: yesterday’s “Claude Code talks too much” hook piece, which is one small part of a harness, and to Orca, which gives each agent its own git worktree as a form of isolation. Long, but it’s the article today’s other picks hang off.
- Engineering multi-agent AI for a 100 GB data warehouse (Fareed Khan, Level Up Coding, 39 min, from a writer you follow) Relates to: the Orca migration piece you read in September, but the agents here query data together instead of writing code in parallel. It also pairs with yesterday’s “100x faster than Parquet” pick on the storage side.
- Why is everything written in Rust now? (Cordero Core, 16 min) Relates to: your Electron vs lightweight native thread. It gives the broader context for yesterday’s Rust OCR and Snow UI picks, and a useful counterpoint to Orca and VS Code staying on TypeScript and Electron.
If you have time
Section titled “If you have time”- Building an agentic knowledge graph for billions of events (Fareed Khan, 34 min, free friend link) This rebuilds Netflix’s ontology-driven observability approach on public data. Relates to: #2, by the same author. It’s the platform side of agents over large data.
- OpenClaw or Hermes? Choosing the right AI agent stack in 2026 (Parvez Mohammed, Towards Dev, 11 min) Relates to: #1. It compares agent runtimes, while the harness article covers what you wrap around whichever one you pick.
- Why “just use Postgres” is about to get easier (MynoteoracleDBA, 5 min) Relates to: yesterday’s “PostgreSQL 50% slower on Linux 7.0” pick. It’s a short read to balance the bad news.
Skipped
Section titled “Skipped”- “Anthropic just shipped Claude 2.0” (a feature listicle), the AI fake images piece, “Top 10 diagramming tools”, “Essential CLI tools”, “You don’t need Jev”, the Claude Duet and crypto-miner quick takes, and the PHP2Shell alert. They’re either listicles, off topic or thin.
Note: links between pieces are based on digest blurbs only, since I still can’t open Medium from here.
